The book of August is The Beef Princess of Practical County by Michelle Houts. This is a great book about the goood times and bad times of raising and selling a market steer. The main character's name is Libby Ryan. Libby tries to fill her older brother, Ronnie's shoes after Ronnie goes off to college at Purdue. Libby and her dad grow closer through this experience. In the end it all leads up to the Practical County Fair. In conclusion this is a great book for people of any age, although this book is recomended for 3rd-6th graders I have heard wonderful reviews from people as young as 5 to people as old as 85!
All in all, this is a very good book!
