The book of October #2

The Second book of October is The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart. This is an odd, long story. This Children's novel is a whopping 485 pages long. But don't let its size intimidate you. IT'S WORTH IT! It is odd. Making the story hard to summarize. I'll try my best! This story is about a boy named Reynard Muldoon. Mr. B sends Reynard and 3 other children on a secret mission to L.I.V.E. (The Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened) Th founder is evil and brainsweeps millions of people with a thing called the Whisperer. In the end they disable the whisperer and all live happily ever after. AR point value-18 points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommendations

There are a few books that I recommend however that I will not feature. These books are just as good as the ones I feature as book of the month. My reason for not featuring these books is simply a matter of time.

Book of October #1

Although it is still September I am posting a book blog early. I will have Two Books for October. The first book is Chestnut Hill: The New Class. This is a great book about a Virginia boarding school named Chestnut Hill. Dylan Walsh is going to Chestnut Hill for not just academics but for their great horse back riding program. The year before Dylan starts to attend Chestnut Hill their Jr. jumping coach quits to coach the rival team. Dylan's aunt, Ali Carmichael, is an expert at Jumping. When Ali becomes the Director of Riding at Chestnut Hill Dylan tries as hard as she can to be know as Dylan Walsh not Ali's niece. Also If you liked the Heartland series (also by Lauren Brooke) the main character of Heartland Amy Flemming shows up in this book.

My Mistake

My Mistake the second book in the Among the Hidden series is Among the Imposters. Not Among the Betrayed. I read them out of order!

Monday, September 7, 2009

The book of September is Among the Hidden By: Margaret Peterson Haddix. Getting back to school my class just finished reading this 153 page novel. It is an extremely suspenseful story about a young boy named Luke Garner. Luke is a 3rd child. This story takes place in the near future. Third children are illeagal. Luke has spent his whole life hiding. When he starts to question why he has to hide his life becomes more intense. His finding Jen was truly the cherry on top of this novel. Although this is a smaller book it is nice because its size is motivating. I know the "stuck in a book" feeling. This is not one of those books. Also if you enjoy this novel try Among the Betrayed the sequel!

Book of August

The book of August is The Beef Princess of Practical County by Michelle Houts. This is a great book about the goood times and bad times of raising and selling a market steer. The main character's name is Libby Ryan. Libby tries to fill her older brother, Ronnie's shoes after Ronnie goes off to college at Purdue. Libby and her dad grow closer through this experience. In the end it all leads up to the Practical County Fair. In conclusion this is a great book for people of any age, although this book is recomended for 3rd-6th graders I have heard wonderful reviews from people as young as 5 to people as old as 85!
All in all, this is a very good book!
